WENDY LANE SMITH

Wendy Lane Smith doesn't always think of herself as an artist because she is largely self- taught and only began painting in 2020. Doing watercolor tutorials as a date night activity with her husband led her to more experimentation and a hobby she truly enjoyed.

She has always had an interest in the arts, having started out as an opera singer. She has a BMus in vocal performance from The College of Wooster, and an MMus from The University of Texas in Austin.

Finding that the nomadic lifestyle of a musician did not suit her, she decided to go into teaching, earning her MEd from Cabrini College. She taught both gifted education and fifth grade in Red Lion for 28 years.

She retired at the end of the 2024 school year, and is looking forward to focusing on art. In her free time, she loves to travel, especially if the trip is centered around hiking, running, or cycling.
