HIVE artspace

HIVE artspace is an art gallery and artist collective based in historic downtown York, Pennsylvania. The collective consists of an art gallery run by volunteers, the resident artists in the studios on the premises, and a wide-ranging community of exhibiting artists, from local to national, and from as far away as Greece and Italy.

The mission of HIVE artspace is to inspire, motivate and support our artists, to work together to bring independent art into a gallery setting, and to actively participate in, cultivate and nurture the growing creative community within York City.

HIVE has new exhibits every month that open on First Friday each month, and they are free and open to the public.

• EVERY FIRST FRIDAY, 5-9pm - The opening of a new monthly themed exhibit at HIVE artspace, plus all of the shops & galleries are open late for the evening!

• NOVEMBER 7-29 - THE MINI ART SHOW Peek into a world of pint-sized paintings, miniature mixed-media, small sculptures, and other tiny-but-mighty works during our November Mini Art Show. Every artwork in this show measures 6 inches or less - but don’t be fooled by their size, these little masterpieces are packed with color, charm, and imagination in a variety of subjects by 45+ artists. Opening reception: November 7, 5-9pm.

• NOVEMBER 1-15 - CALL FOR ART: HIVE'S HOLIDAY BZZZAAR for our December gift-buying exhibit. See EXHIBITS page for details.

• NOVEMBER 29, 10-5 - SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY: Come #ShopSmall for the holidays on this special day focusing on independent and small businesses like HIVE artspace! Our whole district will be participating, and Rainbow Rose is hosting an arts & crafts vendor market at The Bond, just 2 doors down from Hive!

• DECEMBER 6, 11:30-5:00 - JINGLE BELL CRAWL: Join us for Jingle Ball Crawl in downtown York as we visit all over downtown with samples at each stop. Wear your ugly Christmas sweaters, elf, santa, Mrs. Clause, Grinch costumes, etc. 17 participating stops and a sample drink and/or food at each stop. All within walking distance. Cost is $25.
